Job Summary
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is responsible for safeguarding the financial health of the
organization while providing strategic leadership on major projects and growth initiatives.
The role combines financial stewardship with project financial management, capital
allocation, and risk oversight. The CFO will serve as a strategic partner to executive
leadership, ensuring financial discipline, transparency, and value creation across the
organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership
● Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization’s long-term
objectives.
● Provide strategic financial guidance to support business growth, sustainability, and
major initiatives. - Project Financial Management
● Oversee the financial planning and execution of special and major projects from
initiation to completion.
● Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and financial reporting to ensure
delivery within approved financial parameters. - Financial Analysis & Decision Support
● Conduct detailed financial modelling, investment appraisals, and feasibility studies
for proposed projects.
● Provide data-driven insights, recommendations, and performance analysis to
executive management and the Board.
● Ensure balance sheet optimization and financial performance monitoring. - Capital Allocation & Investment Management
● Evaluate and prioritize capital investments to maximize return on investment (ROI).
● Assess funding options, capital requirements, and financing structures to support
strategic initiatives. - Risk Management & Governance
● Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks including tax exposure, currency risks,
market volatility, and regulatory changes.
● Implement robust financial controls, governance frameworks, and internal policies to
maintain transparency and integrity. - Cash Flow & Capital Management
● Oversee cash flow planning, liquidity management, and working capital optimization.
● Ensure adequate funding for operational and investment needs. - Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
● Ensure full compliance with applicable financial regulations, accounting standards,
and statutory requirements.
● Liaise with auditors, regulators, and external advisors as required. - Stakeholder Engagement
● Communicate financial performance, project progress, and key milestones to senior
management, the Board, and internal stakeholders.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders including
investors, lenders, and regulatory bodies. - Team Leadership & Development
● Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to deliver high-quality financial support
across the organization.
● Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous
improvement.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications
● B.Sc. in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
● M.Sc. in Finance, Accounting, or related field (preferred)
● Professional certification: ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent
Experience
● Minimum of 10–15 years relevant professional experience
● Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role within a complex business
environment
● Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects and strategic initiatives
Knowledge & Technical Competencies
● Strong understanding of financial management, investment analysis, and financial
modelling
● Solid knowledge of project finance and project management principles
● Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and reporting tools
